{"id":990,"date":"2021-02-06T13:09:18","date_gmt":"2021-02-06T18:09:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/godshipchurch.com\/?page_id=990"},"modified":"2021-03-20T10:09:24","modified_gmt":"2021-03-20T14:09:24","slug":"zinc","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/godshipchurch.com\/?page_id=990","title":{"rendered":"Zinc (30)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>The element is normally found in association with other base metals such as copper and lead in ores.<\/li><li>Zinc is chalophile, meaning the element has a low affinity for oxides and prefer to bond with sulfides.<\/li><li>Sphalerite (ZnS) \u2013 which is form of zinc sulfide, is the most heavily mined zinc (60-62% Zinc).<\/li><li>Other minerals from which zinc is extracted include:<\/li><li>Smithsonite \u2013 Zinc Carbonate<\/li><li>Hemimorphite \u2013 Zinc Silicate<\/li><li>Wurtzite \u2013 Zinc Sulfide<\/li><li>Hydrozincite \u2013 basic Zinc Carbonate<\/li><li>Zinc reacts readily with acids, alkalis &amp; other non-metals.<\/li><li>Zinc is the fourth most common metal in use, after Iron, Aluminium &amp; Copper.<\/li><li>Commonly used as an anti-corrosion agent. The protection lasts even after the zinc layer is scratched.<\/li><li>Efficient sacrificial anode in cathodic protection (CP).
